Which means “Rainbow” in French
The name “L'arc en cuir” is inspired by the word “L’arc-en-ciel,” which means “rainbow” in French. The brand name associates the rich color of a rainbow with diverse leather colors.
The name also draws an analogy to the arch shape of a rainbow, in the attempt to build a bridge connecting L'arc en cuir’s leather with the industry.

L'arc en cuir originally provided leather samples for oversea footwear manufacturers, as well as specific shoe brands from abroad
Yet, the founder of L'arc en cuir realized that local footwear manufacturers had only limited options for leather sourcing. Also, they were forced to compromise on the materials they used owing to cost. Therefore, L'arc en cuir decided to create a channel for providing eco-friendly, quality, and fashionable leather for local footwear manufacturers, so that their footwear and other leather articles could be, from the materials used to the techniques adopted, completely “made in Taiwan.”
